Welcome to Rocky Mtn Exotic Plants, where a passion for plants runs in the family. Founded by Mark Hanson, our journey began in 2013 when a move from Alabama to Colorado sparked a deep connection with plants. Little did I know, my roots in horticulture trace back to a great-great-grandfather in Sweden, renowned for his expertise in roses and teaching the art of cultivating fruits and vegetables.
My venture into the world of plants took a unique turn as I explored the medical
marijuana industry before finding my true calling in Interiorscaping. Tending to tropical plants for businesses and residents in Colorado, I gained invaluable knowledge about houseplants and their adaptation to our challenging climate.
Driven by a profound joy and experience, I embarked on the journey of Rocky Mtn Exotic Plants. Starting with a collection of beautiful and rare specimens, the desire to share their uniqueness with the world led to the establishment of our brick-and-mortar store. When the pandemic brought a surge in houseplant popularity, we found inspiration in Coati Uprise's lush and green space, complete with an antique bank vault. This synergy influenced the name, paying homage to our commitment to offering rare and variegated plants.
